New York City: La Lanterna di Vittorio

La Lanterna di Vittorio: 129 MacDougal St

So I met a really nice boy named Brandon (ironic huh? Charmin Bear T) on my speed dating event. He took me to eat Italian at a very nice, cozy cafe place in Greenwich Village. We didn’t get a chance to sit in the back with the huge colorful paper lanterns, but the food and service was excellent.

Brandon ordered the lasagna bolognese. It was ok. I’m not much of a lasagna fan because it’s so much pasta in one layer. It wasn’t his favorite either, but good enough to finish!

The pizza was topped with mozzarella, a spicy garlic and tomato sauce originally. But I wanted prosciutto as an extra topping :D It was big enough to share because I definitely couldn’t finish the pie myself. Delicious.

I think my date took here mostly because their pumpkin cognac cheesecake had received rave reviews from past patrons. Also, because he loves cheesecakes! We ordered a slice to share. Although I’m not a big pumpkin fan, it tasted like how everyone said. Smooth, creamy and not too dense. The crust was on par and the whipped cream was homemade. A slice of cheesecake heaven!

Server was attentive and helpful. Noise level wasn’t too bad. The atmosphere was cozy and romantic. A must visit for those in the area. Next time, I want to sit in the back with the lanterns :D
