New York City: Pulino’s & Chikalicious

I also met a nice boy named Andrew that night I went speed dating. Although he didn’t participate in the event, I met him after during dinner with friends. It turned out he was a high school friend of one of my girlfriends who went speed dating with me that night. What a coincidence!

Andrew met up with me for lunch on Saturday at this popular bar and pizzeria in Lolita. You can’t miss their huge signage outside! He loves eggs and will eat anything that involves eggs. Hence he ordered a pizza with two over easy eggs on top. Eggs on top of a pizza – now, that is something I should of came up with myself! Pizza was yummy. I would definitely revisit this joint again. Beside eggs, the pizza was topped with sausage, bacon, mozzarella and white cheddar…all very delicious toppings coming together for a great flavor profile.

I’ve had better eggs benedicts in the city. This version was so ordinary in taste that it lacked flair for what it’s worth. Although the eggs were poached correctly, the hollandaise sauce didn’t help add any flavors to it. Bland! They didn’t put enough of it on the plate to begin with! Very disappointing, but I know not to order this dish next time.

So I had on new wedges that day. Bad idea to try to break them in on a first date. I had to cab it to DSW after eating dessert with Andrew for a new pair of more comfy shoes =X We walked from Pulino’s to this cute little dessert shop. Limited seating here, so it’s a first-come, first-serve type of shop. We ordered a Chocolate Éclair Ice Cream Sandwich. One word: amazing! Especially the hot fudge :) It was small enough in size for me to devour the whole eclair before the ice cream melted. Another recommendation for great dessert is across the street – the original ChikaLicious Dessert Bar with prix fixe desserts selections that can seat up to 20 people. A must go, if you haven’t been here.
